To Gear, or Not to Gear

Episode 002 · March 13th, 2019 · 51 mins 18 secs

About this Episode

In this episode I talk about why wearing protective gear can be controversial and my views on why wearing gear is so important, and more importantly how to choose gear that will work the best for you. I also discuss the important of budgeting for your gear when you are first starting out and before you buy your first motorcycle.

I discuss some past experiences with machinery, bicycling, skateboarding and rollerblading, and how those experiences shaped my opinions about wearing gear and what gear to choose.

I also talk about why riding a motorcycle makes you so much more vulnerable than when you are driving a car, and the types of injuries you can sustain if things go bad, and the types of protection you need to help reduce them.

Finally I discuss a little about how watching motorcycle racing can give you an appreciation for good quality, protective gear.

But above all, motorcycling is a very rewarding activity...so you just need to be aware of the risks and do your best to control them so you can enjoy motorcycling to its fullest for many years to come!
